01 · The housing
The shell is the part you see. We work on what is inside.
A locksmith is judged by the door that opens and the door that stays shut. We have been in Portland since 2009, and we still do the job the way it was taught to us: try the lock you have before selling you a new one.

Spotting a locksmith scam before you pay one
A fixed price on the phone, ID before the door, and no drilling you did not agree to. Three things honest locksmiths…
By Ironwood technicians
7.1Will you damage my door or lock?
Not if we can avoid it. Picks and tension tools open most locks cleanly. We only drill after we have explained why, and you agree to it.
7.2How do you price a lockout?
We quote a fixed price on the phone for the time window you need. The price we quote is the price you pay for the work described. Parts we recommend are shown to you before they are fitted.
7.3Do I need to show ID?
Yes. Before we open a door, the technician checks that you own or manage the property. This protects you as much as anyone.
7.4Which lock should I fit to a front door?
A Grade 1 deadbolt is the strongest standard residential choice, with a reinforced strike plate and longer screws into the frame. A grade describes how the lock is tested under the ANSI/BHMA standards, not a brand.
